The epic of a Catalan smuggler

Once upon a time at the twilight of the transpyrenean widespread banditry, the Viceroy of Spain tortured and sentenced to death all those who had challenged his authority. In order to escape this unfortunate fate, the Catalan bandoleros had no choice but to condemn themselves to exile.

Converted into a cowboy on a modest Tennessee ranch, a smuggler, nostalgic of his native Catalonia flavours decided to import liters of Rivesaltes Ambré on his lands. Nevertheless due to the legendary severity of the american customs officers, he set up a fraud for months with a view to get round the law. So, by a tumultuous night he hided in open sea liters of Rivesaltes Ambré in whisky barrels from Tennessee. The plan was a success; they foiled border checks without any trouble. Bandoler was born from the fusion of those flavours.

The Bandoler wine

First of all, Bandoler is a Rivesaltes Ambré, a fortified wine obtained by stopping the fermentation in order to preserve the natural taste of the grapes: sweet and fruity.

This wine comes from an ancestral know-how of Roussillon. (A background of 200 years) Thanks to their (background of) 200 years of experience in fortifies wines, The Domaine de la Perdrix developed this aging process after 2 years of research. 

Guided by a desire for originality and an innovative approach, La Perdrix succeeds its audacious bet to produce a very unique product with the Bandoler, the only one of its kind on the market !

The Bandoler's specificity

Bandoler is a Rivesaltes Ambré Hors d’âge, a fortified wine aged for many years in oak barrels. But it has the particularity to be refined in Tennessee Whiskey barrels freshly racked, bought directly from Jack Daniel’s Distillery. 

The typical notes of this legendary whiskey give it an incomparable taste and character.  

New in its production mode but also in the rare subtlety of its flavours, Bandoler is an exceptional product with sweet and powerful notes of an old West Indies rum.

Most appreciated as an aperitif, savored with a dessert and sublimated as a digestive.
